Eat, Pray, Read

Just thought I'd take a quick break from reading (at the library! whoa!) for a little post. Things are busy, busy so here's a brief glimpse of my life here, courtesy of some links. Sorry I'm such a lazy blogger!

1. My local library! It's a few blocks from my apartment and it's fairly quiet. I think I'll be doing a lot of studying here when I don't feel like making the trek to campus.  I know I've said this before, but I love living in Brookline! Another alternative to this library is the lovely Boston Public Library

2. I've eaten a lot of pizza these past two weeks. My usual is the pesto-tomato flatbread pizza from Trader Joe's; it's cheap and delicious and one is enough for 3 meals. Way to stretch those student dollars! I've also dined at Emma's Pizza in Cambridge, I tried a pie with bacon, gorgonzola, and roasted tomatoes and it was fabulous :) And my most recent pizza encounter was at a gathering hosted by one of Nora's friends from high school. They ordered pizza from a local place called The Upper Crust . The veggie and margherita are yumm-o!

3. I found a church nearby and I like it so far. It's beautiful, fairly casual, and the people are friendly. I like the priest ok, I'm still not used to these thick Boston accents! It's a short walk from my apartment, a little over 1/2 a mile, so there's really no excuse to not go on the regular. And since this is Massachusetts, a liberal Catholic like me fits in pretty well! No more scowling at the occasional visit from Bishop DiLorenzo at the Cathedral in Richmond.

4. Ok back to food :) I discovered some lovely dessert options in the city. Caffe Vittoria  in the North End has delicious tiramisu and I washed it down with San Pelligrino Aranciata, the Italian equivalent of Orangina (less pulpy). I've also sampled cupcakes from Lulu's in the North End and Party Favors here in Brookline. ooh la la! You guys must think I've doubled in size by now with all my food commentary!

Ok I need to get back to work before heading to school for my first Biostatistics class. Exciting, right?! I'm a giant nerd because I'm pretty excited about everything I'm learning, it's a good feeling because I feel like this is right and I'm going to learn a lot in Boston, in and out of class!

big hugs to all!
