Quick update

Hi friends! I'm home in Richmond and so many people have asked about my blog that I figured I should take a moment for a quick post. I had no idea anyone cared so much about where I've been eating :) Since my last post I celebrated the big 2-8 and I had a fun celebration with my new friends. I went camping in Cape Cod at Nickerson State Park(my first trip there since childhood) and my friends somehow snuck a birthday cake in with our other supplies for a little surprise at midnight of my b-day. I was worried we would be freezing but we sang songs around an awesome campfire, drank boxed wine (classy!) and snuggled in a family size tent so we were happy and toasty.

On the way back to Boston we stopped in Hyannis for a quick seafood feast, I hope to go back once the weather is warm again. We went out for my birthday to this tiny bar in Cambridge that is ironically named the Enormous Room. I was happy that a lot of my friends came out and it was a good feeling to look around and see so many people I care about, I didn't even need to import friends from Virginia :)

The weather has definitely gotten chilly and I'm getting a taste of New England winter...actually, it's not even winter yet and it's pretty frigid. When I left Richmond my two favorite research nurses at Massey, Mary Beth and Jane, gave me a gift card to put towards a new winter coat and I finally made the big purchase. I broke it out last weekend and it's sooo toasty. I'm ok with looking like a giant poofball because it is so warm and lovely inside.

School is keeping me busy as usual and I haven't bombed anything yet so that's good news. Finals are just around the corner and I can't believe that one semester is almost over! Time is really flying by and I can't believe that so much has happened in such a short amount of time. I'm done with finals on the 19th and then it's time for winter break :) Hopefully I'll make it to California for part of break to defrost from dear Boston.

My Thanksgiving break has been so much fun. The whole family is together and we've had lots of quality time eating and playing Wii. Our Friday after Thanksgiving tradition is to go hiking and we continued this year by taking on Old Rag Mountain in Shenandoah National Park. It was a pretty difficult hike, including some unexpected rock scrambling, but I'm glad we did it. Sure, it was a pretty tiring 5 hours but reaching the top of the mountain was so worth it. Virginia is so pretty :) I also attended my 10 year high school reunion....it was interesting. We're all older and fatter but pretty much the same. The nice people are still nice and the jerks are still jerks. I hope I'm in the nice category for other people.

Ok, it's my last night in Richmond and I need to do some biostats homework before an ice cream date with my beloved, Shelley. I'll try and update soon and let you know what delicious things I've been eating! I know you're on the edge of your seat wondering :)
